In short, we've had nurseless nights, 911 calls, exhaustion, first teeth, mobility emerging....all of these things could have their own post or two! There's just simply not enough time to sit down and document it. Fortunately for me (and for Verizon since they're the ones that get my money every month) I have a phone that is able to capture things as they happen. As long as said phone is near me and as long as I don't drop it in the bath tub with the babies!
The point is, so many things have happened (good, bad, and ugly) and they all have turned out ok. Yes, I wish we didn't have times without a nurse simply because there are situations sometimes that even with a nurse we have to call 91. I'll try to be brief but the story is that the sat probe wasn't picking up and it was dark in the room in the early morning so we didn't realize Penny was desatting until she started shaking...not convulsing...just kind of panicking...after suctioning and changing the trach and no improvement...and after I ran to the bathroom to throw up (mom's aren't supposed to throw up! they're supposed to hold it together!) we called 911...then the nurse deep suctioned and got a plug out from down below the trach and by the time the firemen got there Penny was pink again and ready to party....little booger!
Both girls are teething (fun fun) so we're a drool factory up in here! Lydia's first tooth broke through the skin today. You can only feel the points of it and it's not really photographable yet but you can bet I'll have a picture posted just as soon as you can see a provable tooth!
Lydia has also improved her crawling and now loves to walk with someone holding her fingers. My mom fusses at me for encouraging walking because as soon as she's walking we're in big trouble but I just can't resist that giggle she has when she's just so proud of herself. It's so precious.
Penny is doing better on her mobility too. She's bearing weight through her feet for longer periods rather than doing the bouncy bouncy game all the time....she's sitting up by herself for very very short periods (see video below)...and she's really connecting with the world around her. Today she was staring down some toys and then would look at me like "uh...can you help a baby out?!"...of course I obliged.
I had an entire afternoon where I was just as weepy as a pregnant lady over the fact that their first birthday is coming up very very soon. I can NOT believe that its nearly been a year! I'll have to post about that later when I post about how much I bawled this morning in church when we started singing "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". I mean I got out "Great Is They Faaaaithfuln....waaah waah waaah" and the rest is history. Why is it the words you mean the most have the hardest time coming out? More on that later.
I hope there will be more on that later, but I have to be honest. Jonathan is coming home either late tomorrow or early tuesday and I fully intend to spend as much time with him as possible. So, the miniscule amount of time I get with my computer now, will be diminished severely when he's here. So don't hold your breath! But I might post pictures since I'll have someone else around to take them!

Chillin in the living room....thanks to......
Penny's super duper cart! It holds all of her machines so she can roll anywhere in the house! I'm so excited about this I could burst! I just have to remind myself to take it slow so she doesn't get overwhelmed. I know we can be a bit ovewhelming...
"I'm a real Chinese baby now! I eat rice!" -L
"I eat rice too! And by 'eat' I mean squish in my hands and grin about it" -P

Lydia was enamored with her first Christmas tree sighting.
"My Mah Mah keeps brushing my hair 4000000 times to make it long and beautiful...I think it's working! But I'm pretty sure this isn't the style that she's going for" -L
"Mom, I think your kissing my cheeks 4000000 times is making them grow like Lydia's hair!" -P

I learned something new today: an unstable baby falling over is 10x funnier when she's dressed as a turtle.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have told her it was her last sink bath, lol!! Poor little girl... :-)
