Just What We Wanted

All the girls wanted for Christmas was their two front teeth...and they got them! Penny's two bottom teeth are through completely and I think she has one through on the top. She's still not a fan of having anyone's fingers but her own put in her mouth so I havent done a thorough inspection. Our nurse yesterday noticed that they are a little discolored which can be a side effect of her inhaled steroid she has to take for her lungs and will last as long as she has her baby teeth. I guess breathing is cooler that pretty teeth but I am still holding out hope that she's just been drinking too much coffee and it's stained her teeth. One of the adorable pictures I'll be uploading is one of her brushing her teeth. She loves it! She will even let other people do it! I guess it feels good on her gums. Lydia has a nice set of chompers on the bottom which prevent any unwanted gum checking. She has one through on the top for sure and we are expecting the other one any day. Judging by her drool-o-meter it should be soon.
Everyone else got what they wanted for Christmas too. My parents and grandparents came and spent the week with us(and poor Jonathan was wonderfully patient). We had lots of good time together...most of which was spent training my Korean war veteran purple heart recipient grandfather how to use his new iPad. He and my grandmother have always been game for new technology, but this is a totally new concept with touch screen and video chatting and everything. It really feels like "back to the future" sometimes! They were amazing though and I can't wait to video chat with them and the girls all the time so the girls will get a chance to know them even from across the state.

Jonathan's brother Justin is in town too for the holidays. He lives in Hawaii so we really only get to see him at Christmas. He hasn't seen the girls since last Christmas and I'm pretty sure they are a lot more fun this time around!

Penny and I both came down with a cold shortly after their birthday and had been fighting it ever since. She really is doing well with it other than lots and lots of mucus. She ended up with some bloody secretions ( a precursor to a trach infection) so we started an antibiotic to fight it. She seems to be feeling better everyday and I'm so proud of her. Some vent babies would end up in the hospital for a cold but she is fighting it like a champ. Lydia's immune system deserves an award too! She has yet to get it!

Jonathan is back on the road but will be back tomorrow evening. I know it's silly but any time he's home for a holiday I get excited. Even if it's the kind of holiday that I still go to bed at 8 o'clock for. Heck, I'm excited if he's home on groundhogs day!!!

Lynnlee update!  She is doing WONDERFULLY!  She's on a home vent and will be home in the next few weeks.  She is one blessed little girl to have the wonderful family she has.  Please continue to pray for them as they get readjusted to life at home with a vent baby and with nurses.  We love our nurses, but it's an adjustment having other people in your house.  It's almost like getting a new family member!
