Brilliant!

I'm sure I will get some opposition on this, but it just has to be said.  My children are the funniest, smartest, most beautiful children there ever were.

Today, Lydia and I were at Costco and she said "dog" very clearly.  I said "no sweetie there aren't any doggies here" and then I looked at her.  She had her eyes fixed on a Lady and the Tramp poster.  She's BRILLIANT!!!!

This morning, Penny, Lydia, Penny's nurse, and I were all sitting on the sofa in the nursery.  Lydia was finishing a bottle and Penny was refusing hers.  Penny decided it was time to make every one laugh so she face planted herself into the nurse, nuzzled around like a crazy little loon, sat up and smiled like "hey that was funny right?!"  Of course she was right.  And she repeated the successful attempt at cracking us up over and over again.

Lydia was "reading" our new book from the imagination library and would fuss whenever I touched it.  I said "Lydia do you not want me touching your book?" to which she replied "nnnooo" and pulled the book away.  Again, we are in so much trouble.

Penny is loving her tastes of freedom that her rolling stand provides her.  She crawled from the nursery all the way into the kitchen.  Although I'm pretty sure she was lured by Kim's ipad.  I got home from work right about then and found her sitting in the kitchen floor.  She looked up at me and put her arms up and of course I couldn't resist it!  She sure knows how to tug on those heartstrings!

One afternoon Lydia and I were getting restless while Penny was napping so we loaded up and went to visit Lynnlee.  She is doing so well!  She got a good report on her pulmonary hypertension and and exceedingly good report on her weight gain.  As in, she's gained too much!  For a baby born so small...that's something to be proud of!  Lynnlee was 3 weeks earlier than the girls and had more severe respiratory issues, so what I'm about to say is pretty amazing.  Lydia is practically not delayed at all, Penny is about 2 months behind her, and Lynnlee is about 2 months behind Penny.  It's been so fun watching Penny watch Lydia  and learn what comes next.  I'm excited that Lynnlee will be able to watch the girls and say to her little self "hey...I think I'd like to try that!"  Lydia almost ruined their relationship though as soon as we got to their house (which incidentally is only a few blocks away from ours).  I put Lydia down and she started playing and got so excited that she let out a little scream.  Lynnlee, who is only accustomed to being around her parents and nurses and I'm assuming they rarely randomly scream, was startled so badly that she made the saddest face and just cried her little eyes out.  Fortunately she's as forgiving as she is easily startled and she let Lydia stay.

"don't let this flower and this monkey hat fool you.  I'm one tough baby!" -P
