Penny is excited because she graduated today! She got moved up to the intermediate care unit! That's the 6th floor so it really is moving up (and it has a private bathroom so it's also a "deluxe apartment in the sky")

She wasn't a fan of leaving her room. Who can blame her though? The last two times she left the room someone cut her, so naturally she was a little wary this time. She calmed right down when we got to her new room.

She was probably resting up because we told her that Lydia was coming to visit her tomorrow. This was lydia's reaction when we told her

Speaking of visiting, Penny had her first IMCU visitors. They were some of her favorite nurses from the PICU who brought her a little "room warming" present.

Aren't Lebonheur nurses great?!
Medically speaking Penny is doing pretty well. We are on the sloooow wean plan for both the ventilator and the narcotics. Poor baby made it clear that we were moving too quickly on the meds by exhibiting very clear withdrawal symptoms. She is feeling better now and we got her message loud and clear. Apparently taking narcotics from a baby is not as easy a taking candy from one.
Her bloodgases have been BEAUTIFUL and I'm so proud! They have actually been in the normal range. Like actually normal! Sadly her vent wean is more dependent on weight gain than bloodgases at this point. We are still proud though.
Lydia is doing pretty well herself. She's found her feet and plays with them often. She loves peas and carrots as long as they're mixed with rice cereal and you let her hold the spoon when you're finished feeding her. Most adorably of all, she beams from ear to ear when she sees us. It is beyond priceless and makes every stress just melt away. This should really come in handy when I go back to work! Here is Lydia's foot trick

Speaking of work, the Lord has provided for childcare needs so you can stop bugging him about it!
Specific things to bug the Lord about
-Penny's weaning to be not too fast and not too slow
- Penny's development to catch up now that she can participate in life
-reunion of our girls to be sweet and fun for all involved
- adjustment for us as we acclimate to a new floor with different ways of doing things
- our friend Lynnlee who is still in the NICU and still jumping hurdles
