Must be having fun!

Phew. Once again time is flying. We are spending most every day with the Girls together at the hospital. That means MUCH less downtime for mommy to blog. I have been taking lots of pictures though and everybody knows thats the most important.

Lydia had her 6 month appointment with her doctor. Even though she is really 7 months. Crazy. I know. She weighs 16 lbs and is in the 50th percentile in everything but weight (we think). Her super-daddy was up and at em this morning and took Lydia to the doctor all by himself! We were all very proud.

Penelope keeps doing very well with only mild and expected set backs. She now weighs 4.26 kg which is 9 lbs and 6 oz and is gaining regularly. This is huge! Her sedative wean is going pretty well and she has just a few more days of that and she should be narcotics free! She's showing some signs of oral aversion issues (because of having discomfort in her mouth for so long with the intubation) but speech therapy is working with her regularly so hopefully we can correct that. She's had one day of a bad bloodgas and it wasn't terrible (63 co2) and after a day of bumped settings she's back to where she was on her veeeery slow weaning process. The goal at this point is not to get her off of the ventilator but to give her the best chance possible to grow and develop. The vent allows her to focus on those things rather than on breathing. We are sold on how she's improved. She is smiling and socially interacting, she's starting to reach for things, she's putting her hands in her mouth, and trying to roll herself over in her bed. Not things that would normally be impressive for a 7 month old but are definitely impressive for our little fighter who has been through so very much. I'm so proud of her.

Specific Prayer
-steady progress for Penny
-continued thriving for Lydia
-preparations for my starting back to work
-Jonathan and I as we keep trying to figure out this parenting thing

I think Lydia tooted this time

Callie was one of the lovely assistants we scheduled to help juggle babies. It also helps that she's a photographer too! The next 3 pictures are from her

  1. They are both looking soooo good! You sound like you've gotten confirmation that the trach was the best thing to do. I'm so glad for that!
