No More Stinky P!

We finally got Penny's first trach change out! She had already broken 3 of her 4 sutures. The surgeon was impressed. He also told her she was very pretty...so I guess I forgive him for being 2 days late.

With each day I feel more comfortable moving Penny, picking her up myself, and just snuggling up like a real baby! Ok maybe we aren't all the way to normal yet but we are a heck of a lot closer than we were this time last week! She is falling asleep as we speak (type or read) in her swing. The first time she's been in it since leaving home. I think she likes it :)

Medically, she weighs 4.2 kilos which is 9 lbs 6 oz. She had her vent settings weaned a little bit today and has her sedatives weaned every 48 hours. She really is doing well. We should be moving up to the 6th floor which is intermediate care some time next week!

Lydia had a big morning out shopping with her Nana and Pappaw and Mommy and handled it really well. We are starting to finally get her in a good schedule of napping and eating and playing so that is making everyone's life a little easier! She's such a hoot. Smiling and laughing and then throwing fits of monumental proportions! The girl's got opinions!

Specific Prayer
- penny's weaning off of the vent
- positive response to physical therapy and a quick catch up
- lydia's protection
- Gods continues pouring out of graciousness

  1. I was at the mall yesterday with my girls, and the 7yo, who has a baby eagle eye, noticed a very cute little baby. So of course, we got a little closer to steal a better peek, because I am also a baby nut. Which is when I noticed the baby has a trach like Penny. We didn't get any closer, because I didn't know what that baby's health issues were and didn't want to risk passing anything to her, but she was so cute and made me think of Penny. It made me realize that one day, as hard as you guys are working, that you're going to be out of that hospital, doing reasonably normal things like going to the mall, and she's going to have people thinking about what a cute little thing she is. And maybe, like this unknown baby, someone who knows another baby with challenges, will see Penny and be encouraged. Praying for you guys!
