Penny is settling in and is relaxing just fine (I think she's excited she has her "tv" monitor back that she loves to watch so much). She still has bloody secretions and increases respiratory rate but we are leaning more towards this being related to tracheal trauma caused by her emergency trach changes and excessive suctioning (not by us). The sputum culture will tell us for sure but it will take a few days to get it back so they are treating for an infection anyway. Either way, penny is smiling again so I'm happy.
My wonderful mother in law came to the rescue this morning and has kept Lydia all day and my wonderful mother is almost here from Texas to help with Lydia while penny is "occupied". Arent mothers great?!? I know, because I am one!!
Penny didn't have a change of clothes so her friend lynnlee (who ironically was admitted the day penny was discharged and is being discharged today) offered one of her outfits. What a good friend.

thats too bad she had to go back into the hospital. continued prayers!!
