Just a Pitstop

Well it looks like we will be heading home today! Penny's cultures show gram negative rods (it doesn't specifically identify immediately) so she's on some antibiotics orally and inhaled so that will take care of whatever it is. The trauma part will heal up on it's own over time but the bleeding has decreased already so that's a good sign. I do have to admit that I used a spare trach that we have to see exactly how far down I had been suctioning and I am guilty of going just a little too far myself. It sure is easier to blame someone else for things that happen to your child (especially when they involve blood). I guess we all learn a little better by our own mistake than by those of others.

It's all under God's sovereign plan. How's this for a taste of sovereignty. Last night my mom practically insisted that I spend the night at my sisters house while they were out of town so that I could get some sleep. She, a naturally light sleeper, was therefore on high alert while sleeping because she had Lydia at my house. At one of her many "wake up and listen for Lydia" moments, she heard a drip drip drip. If Penny had been home with all of her whirring and beeping machines, the little dripdripdrip would never have been noticeable! After investigating she discovered that it was coming from the hot water tank. She and my dad (via phone) tried for an hour to fix it and finally called me to call our handyman neighbor and he can to the rescue to stop the leaking but the tank was beyond repair. This morning, we were able to call our friendly reliable repair guy and we are now the proud owners if a working hot water heater. Yay! Jonathan put it so well. Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone) - for broken tanks and sick babies.
